The Month of The Queen…Day in Honor of Her Husband

May 1, 2008

Happy May Crowning all you devout sons and daughters of the Queen…

A few days back I thought to myself that it would be great to bring my son with me to Mass for the feast of St. Joseph, the worker in support of the family, May 1st, the 1st day of the month of our queen in honor of her husband. I’ve been on thin ice at work for trouble with my attendance and tardies so I thought it not possible and left it alone.

So I awoke this morning knowing that I had to get to Mass, my wife was giving me trouble about herself having to get to work early and strongly insisted that my attendance this morning could not be done. I insisted at all costs that I must go, my intentions being purely selfish, as I went on getting ready to leave, she was EXTREMELY upset. I got ready earlier than usual so I had 10 min. left, I decided to lay down with my J.P. before I left. As I gently caressed my son he was waking. At about 5min. before I had to leave I asked if he wanted to go to Mass with me, this would resolve my issue with my wife having to leave early for work, He said yes. I got him ready quicker than I expected and we left for Holy Family, we even arrived a few minutes early. Once again God had spoiled me with something I desired as he has many times before. I got to go to Mass, I got to bring my boy, and I got to do it while keeping the peace with my wife, it all worked out beautifully despite all the apparent blocks that were set before me. The Homily at Mass rocked to say the least. It all had to do with the role of the Father’s role as worker to provide for the family but NOT at the expense of the parents responsibility to nuture the children into sons and daughters of God. I personally have been praying for a change in occupation that I might have more time to raise my children, especially while they’re very young, to know and love God, the Church, and prayer and all other devout practices. I need them to see their father loving God day in and day out. This generation that our children are growing up in is ruthless, I need to combat this abyss of hate with an abyss of love, as society will attempt to bombard my little ones with a love of the world I need to bombard them with a love of God. They are the future of not only the Church but of society in total. I want to be a saint but even more I want my children to be saints, great lovers of God for the generations to come. God knows my heart. He has so freely given me things simply for my enjoyment, I know he will grant these things which are for enjoyment of the love that he is.

May the peace and blessing of St. Joseph and our Holy Queen be upon us all, but most especially upon all fathers and mothers.

Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, pray for us!
St. Joseph, model for all husbands and fathers, pray for us!
