Marian Month, Our Birthday and Communion

May 4, 2008

In this month of May, it is eventful.

First of all, it is Our Mother’s Month, we should pray the Rosary esp. since there is so much evil in this World. I myself am trying to pray the Rosary. Also it is not just Mother’s Day coming up next week, but Pentecost, the birth of our Church, so…Happy Early Birthday Everyone!

Another note, today at the 9am Mass, First Communicants received Jesus for the first time. I am honored to give Our God to them. It was cute and an awesome sight. I’ve  realized that when something is new like receiving the Eucharist, it our nerves are aware. But when receiving becomes a routine, we tend to forget that it is GOD, and that our physical eyes gets the best of us and forget that we must see that in our spiritual eyes that it his FLESH, type AB and muscle.  Now I know it sounds odd, HIS FLESH and BLOOD. I was puzzled about this too, until I heard a homily from Fr. Herrigan from Holy Trinity at Atwater Village on the Eucharist. Saying,

“Do you think Jesus thought of it? Of course he did. He knew that if we actually saw flesh that we would be disgusted? “ HE knew this, so he used bread and through transubstantiation and the priests’ hands - we are reliving, we are bringing that part of the past, present. Also, when we partake in this, we are truly in COMMUNION with not just with each other, but with the SAINTs and ANGELs. They are there with us in mass.

When I started altar serving, at that part of the consecration, everyone is kneeling, and I would ring the bells. I remember that when that happened I would not just look at the Eucharist and the priest, but the dome of the Church imagining that ALL the ANGELS and SAINTS are there singing and flapping their wings with joy. I am telling you, that if you think about it; it is awesome and we should not regret taking Him into our body.

- Did you know when we consume the Eucharist, that Jesus is physically inside us for 24 minutes? It is true.

- If you ever feel the urge to go to Adoration, but can’t? Well, do you have a computer and internet? You can see him. I’m not trying to promote shortcuts, I’m just saying that if you ever need to just relax or get a breather for a moment, but physically stuck in an office or just stuck in general.

DEATH

May 4, 2008

A sick man turned to his doctor, as he was preparing to leave the examination room and said, “Doctor, I am afraid to die.  Tell me what lies on the other side.”

Very quietly, the doctor said, “I don’t know.”

“You don’t know?  You, a Christian man, do not know what is on the other side?”

The doctor was holding the handle of the door; on the other side came a sound of scratching and whining, and as he opened the door, a dog sprang into the room and leaped on him with an eager show of gladness.  Turning to the patient, the doctor said, “Did you notice my dog?  He’s never been in this room before. He didn’t know what was inside.  He knew nothing except that his master was here, and when the door opened, he sprang in without fear.  I know little of what is on the other side of death, but I do know one thing…I know my Master is there and that is enough.”
